The efficacy of our water dispersed graphene in imparting benefits to concrete has been extensively trialled. Gains in compressive strength have been focussed on with graphenated concrete containing AqGraphene consistently and dramatically improving early stage strength and allowing replacement of 20% cement content with filler in the design mixes whilst still beating compressive strength for regular concrete. The resulting reduced carbon footprint and carbon credit burdens using these new mixes combines with further characteristic improvements in regard to crack formation resistance, water ingress prevention, co-benefits to other additives such as silica fibres and gains in flexural and tensile strength.
A critical advantage is the chance to drop the weight and sizing of any reinforcing steel bar or totally remove the need for any metal in applications such as sprayed concrete or precast products that are not interlinked by steel. There are a lot of available studies into these enhanced qualities of graphenated concrete and indications are that the AqGraphene is performing at the top end of the performance gains imparted.
Looking ahead, graphene-infused concrete's heat and electrical conductivity can inspire other applications such as thermal energy dissipation from encased cables, de-icing, inductive charging and protection from lightning.
